I think it may be about time to retire the flip flops for the season. It's one thing to have wet, frozen toes from the snow...but slipping around like a moron, that's getting too far.
It's hard though...flip flops are my favorite walking shoes.
Is it just me, or is walking the best thinking time? (Especially without music and phones and such). Just you, the path and your thoughts.
Today, I saw some McDonald's trash...from there I decided I really kind of wanted a McDonald's apple pie. I haven't had one for at least 3 years, and from my memory at least, I thought they were pretty delicious.
So one day soon...I will have one.
Then I remember thinking I wanted to watch Hercules. I'm not entirely sure where that train of thought came from...but it seems like a pretty good idea to me.
Recall from my last post, we had quite a bit of Halloween candy leftover. So to use up some of the Reese (even though there's certainly not a problem in that regard...), I made some cookies! And they were pretty scrumptious!
I've mentioned Sally here before (from Sally's Baking Addiction), and I'm sure I'll mention her again, but I basically followed this recipe for Ultimate Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies pretty exactly.
Chocolate, peanut buttery cookies stuffed with chunks of Reese and then drizzled with melted peanut butter! Mmmm~! So good...and also quite chocolately, so the good news is, you can't eat a bunch in a row (or potentially at least not AS many)! :D
Aren't they so cute all lined up on the right?? :3
Drizzling the peanut butter was the best part...
Those cookies on the left? Also a recipe from Sally.
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.
They were good....they just weren't AS good. But I'm not a huge pumpkin fan.
I wanted to be...I've tried it and don't mind pumpkin pie now...but alas, it will never be a favorite.
At the Early Thanksgiving dinner, I had some pumpkin cheesecake pie and thought it was SO GOOD!
So I thought maybe I would experiment with a few recipes using pumpkin. I went to Sobey's and the only pumpkin puree they had was a MASSIVE can...at least twice the size of all other cans. And I was excited!
The excitement soon faded away...
I tried a few recipes...I realized I kind of find pumpkin puree to be repulsive...and then I was just done and I flushed the rest away.
HEY! You try dealing with that orange mush!
Maybe I'll just stick to eating pumpkin things that OTHER people make ;)
(PS. Apple pie IS and will ALWAYS BE the #1 pie...just saying...)
So that's that.
What do you figure?
What do you think of pumpkin?
Have any experiences yourself?
Have you retired your flip flops?
OH! Any plans for the weekend?
Enjoy your weekend.
Trudy out.
Love you too.

Weekend Shenanigans: Hair, Cookies and Family
TGIF! I know, I know...the weekend is pretty well here! And little old me is talking about last weekend. Woohoo~!
SO! If you know me...you may or may not know that I frequently get bored of my hair. Yes, I only got my hair cut about 2 months ago and I could technically go about 6 months to a year! I'm always wanting to try something new, change it up, get it cut, or even colored (even though I've never got it colored...not really anyways). Heck, I've even got a perm because I was bored!
The past little while, I've been considering taking my hair shorter...but I was just too scared! But this past Saturday (after hot yoga...with my sweaty french braid) I decided I was going to go for it! I went to a different salon and stylist than I usually go to and asked her about short hair on me and what she thought would look good and this was the end result!
It's not NEAR as bad as I was expecting. It's a long bob...so it's fairly short in the back. But I was impressed! However, it was a pretty big shocker because I haven't my hair this short since...when it grew out from birth?
I liked how it looked straight...but how would it look with my natural waves?
The verdict?
Eh, it's alright. Looks pretty similar to how it normally looks...just shorter (duh -.-).
I do really like it though.
Just feel like it makes me look about 15 or so ;)
What do you think??
Lately, I've been on a bit of a cookie kick...always making basically the same recipe. I've mentioned Sally several times before, and I'm mentioning her again because...well....she makes delicious things!
So the cookies I've been making are Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies and guys...they are goooooooood~!
I generally follow her recipe to a T (well, besides my realizing that I was actually using one egg + one egg WHITE as opposed to one egg + one egg YOLK...whoops! They were still good) ;).
{One different thing about this recipe is it uses some CORN STARCH, which makes for some extra chewy cookies}.
However, last weekend I decided I wanted to try something a little different...I wanted peanut buttery cookies.
So I opened a few old Reese's Pieces and (chopped up) Reese from Halloween (hey, judge all you want...they were still good) threw 'em in and called it a day!
Guys...
...these were yummy cookies ;)
Especially fresh, warm and gooey!
I would highly recommend them or any of Sally's treat's really ;)
{Oh and Nani...these are chilled overnight, making them chewy, thick and delicious!}
I also got to spend some time with the Russell's out in Strathmore. My niece, Ruth, was in a musical at school...The Little Mermaid. She was the herald (the little seahorse that makes announcements to the King)...she did good! Actually, the whole musical itself was quite good and humorous!
Especially considering it's high school acting ;D
Just kidding! Well done!
And congratulations to my 3 nieces that graduated over the past month!
Cassidy, Ruth, and Kenz...you all looked great!
Almost done!
And on that note...I shall bid you good day and good weekend!
What did you get up to last weekend?
What're your plans for this weekend?
Make anything delicious lately?
Scott gets back from fishing tomorrow - YAY!
I've missed you!
Love you too.

And I'll leave you with Bruce....because I think it's a swell idea!
(He fell asleep while waiting for me to finish showering and such)
PS. Did you read my post on pushing yourself?
PPS. Happy Birthday Frances!
PPPPPPP(?!?!)S. Some new 'rules' on sunscreen. Thought they were interesting and probably good to know!

Weekend Shenanigans: TOMS, cookies, and babies!
Oh right...blooooooggg. It hasn't been that long, has it?
Pretty well a week, not so bad!
Did you have a splendid weekend?
What's going on out there?
Here's what Scott and I have been up to . . .
. . . hanging out with the Ben and Frances! It was a gorgeous day on Saturday and we played outside for a little bit, walked for some ice cream and made some dinner. PLUS there was watermelon, which is always awesome ;).
Needlesstosay, it was a good time and we all got some sun :D
. . . made some cookies! Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies from Sally was what I chose...and they were pretty scrumptious! I followed her recipe fairly exactly, I just added a few less chocolate chips and sprinkles because I thought they looked alright!
They were so soft and fluffy and disappeared far too quick! Guess I should've made a double batch!
. . . went to a baby blessing/shower. It was Scott 2 (my nephew) and his wife Chantae's baby... little Scott Eli. (So many Scott's O.O ...but I think they more call him Eli). Such a little cutie! This is the event I made the cookies for and I figured a couple dozen would be alright for the potluck, but they sure disappeared quickly! My sister Marcie, made some Rice Krispie squares with melted Mars bars and butter and they were SO GOOD! You don't even know... *drool*
. . . I bought my second pair of TOMS. I've been converted! They're just so comfortable and easy to slip on! Green! :D
(Paige, now you have to get yours so we can be twinsies!)
. . . we saw a couple of movies. On Friday night, we saw Oblivion which was pretty good. It was kind of an interesting movie with a few unexpected twists...I liked it!
I'd probably give it ***.5(3.5)/5 stars. I'd recommend it for those interested in sci-fi/futuristic-y type movies.
Last night, we saw Iron Man 3 which I'd also say is just pretty good. Robert Downey Jr. is a very enjoyable actor (in my opinion). It was well done and I enjoyed it but I didn't walk away thinking - WOW, that was awesome! Overall a good continuing of the story. But I'd still definitely recommend if you're interested in those movies.
(PS, if you DO go see it, there's a clip at the end of the credits...but I personally don't think the clip was worth waiting through all the credits for).
I'd also give this movie a ***.5(3.5)/5 stars.
It looks like there's some good movies coming out soon though!
That's my weekend for the most part!
Now share YOUR weekend!
