Push Yourself

This is just a quick post before my actual post!

So, as I've mentioned many times, I go to hot yoga every morning before work. (And I am STILL loving it!)
Today was a teacher I'd never had before...so I didn't quite know what to expect.
This class though, was VERY difficult. The room was much more hot than normal (I'm talking like you'd guess I had just gotten out of a pool with how dang sweaty I was) so with all this excess sweat, I was definitely slipping near the end on The Mat (from Lululemon).

And I don't know if it was the excessive heat, or just a different routine than I'm used to...but, as I mentioned, this class felt extremely difficult to me.
There were many points where I wanted to give up...to just take a break and lay down, but I didn't!
And honestly, at the end of the class...as I was like laying Shavasna, I was proud of myself (well, exhausted...but mainly proud)! It was a hard class, and sure I fell a few times...but I never gave up!

Now I'm NOT saying that you shouldn't take breaks when you're exhausted or are feeling faint, but I feel like sometimes (myself included) we sell ourselves short.
How will you grow or know what you're capable of if you don't push yourself...even just a little bit?

And I know not all of us do yoga, but this can apply to anything! Any workout, or any aspect of life really!

I'm alright at pushing myself in workouts (sometimes...definitely NOT always!), but in life...it's so easy to be laid back OR LAZY.

Do you push yourself out of your comfort zone while working out?
Do you push yourself out of your comfort zone in life?

Try something new?
Try talking to someone new?
Go somewhere exciting?

Guys...it's easy to do nothing. Trust me, I do it all the time ;)
I'm comfortable with my routine... comfortable just coming home to my kittens and Scott.
But sometimes, comfort isn't always better (then again, sometimes it is)!

SO...my challenge for you (and me) is to push just a little harder, in whatever aspect you want!

Hold the pose just a few seconds longer...
Do just a few more reps or sets... (heck, even one more!)
Go try something new!

Learn your limits, and push them (safely)...just a little bit.

Most importantly...learn your balance, and be happy :)!

Go team!

Love you too.

  1. Awesome reminder, love! It's such a fine balance, learning when to push yourself and when to take a break, and I've struggled with both, but I think finally learning when to do each. I recognize better when to do each anyway, so that's a start :P I'm glad that you pushed yourself today AND were happy with the results :) Oh, and I love you new little family addition :D He is absolutely adorable!!

  2. Nicely put! I've certainly put myself out of my comfort zone this summer and I am so glad I did. It's always good to try something new!
